OUR BACKGROUND

The Church Furniture Store had its beginnings 20 years ago.  The Bible says, The Steps of a Good man are ordered by the Lord, ...Psalm 37:23.  So it has been with our company, as the founder,  Rev. Scott Gabrielson, sought the Lord regarding his future.  In 1991 it was a time of recession, as it is now, with jobs being difficult to find.  Rev. Scott had parted ways with the church he was pastor of, due to a difference of theological positions.  Needing a break from active ministry, Rev. Scott asked the Lord what he could do to earn a living.  The Lord brought to mind that Rev. Scott had worked in the home furniture business earlier in his life, and also as a church consultant and pastor more recently.  So the idea was born to put the two together.  Rev. Scott wrote to several church furniture companies asking if any had a position open.  One responded and Rev. Scott soon began training as a sales representative for Sauder Church Furniture.  He traveled to Archbold, OH for special training, and soon was actively involved in assisting churches.  After a year, Rev. Scott was offered a position with Imperial Woodworks of Waco, TX, as their representative in the mid-Atlantic area.  He soon became a top representative of this company and spent the next 15 years serving churches as a Church Consultant. He also began training in other areas of importance to churches, including stained glass, church carpets, church chairs, and many other areas.   During that time he assisted more than 5,000 churches with their church furnishings and equipment needs.  Having worked with the two largest companies in this field, he learned from the best teachers how to assist churches and help them grow.  He also adopted the theme for his new ministry services - "Helping Churches Grow". 

Rev. Scott is a contributing author to The Complete Church Guide to Saving Money, and has authored numerous articles for Christianity Today publications and others.  He has been a featured speaker at several seminars on the planning and design of church buildings and furnishings.  He is a graduate of Bluefield College, Averett University and did his graduate work at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.  He and his wife and partner Sherri have 3 children and one fur-kid, LadyBug.

In 2005, Rev. Scott realized the importance of the internet and after much prayer decided to begin offering church chairs through a new website, Worship Chairs.  Worship Chairs was a new and unique website as it was the first in that industry to offer online prices and ordering. Following the theme of "Helping Churches Grow" by offering prices that were $10-15 less than other companies, Worship Chairs soon rose to a place of dominance in the industry and with sales in the multi-million dollar range, it became apparent that growth was inevitable.  Other websites soon followed, as well as new offices, including the Church Furniture Store, which is both an online and local store offering quality church furniture.  

Today we manufacture our own furniture on an 11 acre campus, complete with our woodworking, upholstery, warehouse areas and delivery services.  We are able to keep our .prices lower than our competition by maintaining control over the complete process from raw materials to delivery (in most cases) and provide quality church furniture at the best prices in America.

Our most recent acquisition is a 77,000 square foot building, giving us now over 100,000 sf under roof and 24 acres to grow on! God is good!

Rev. Scott continues to minister through preaching and teaching as he has opportunity in churches.  He is available for speaking engagements and consultations with churches planning to expand.

Rev. Scott has passed along his vision of Helping Churches Grow and of offering the lowest prices in the country to his three children, all grown now, who work in the family business and assist churches daily.  We have now furnished more than 15,000 churches in every state in the USA and several other countries.  As we continue to grow and serve God's people, we look forward to being a blessing to you and your church family!
